LIES, HYPE AND THE REASON WE BUY!!!! I don’t know about you but i think part of the reason we buy (even though we know in truth it doesn’t work – or at least doesn’t work how the company says) is that we want to believe. Hope in a bottle. Its so seductive isn’t it. Creams claiming to reduce wrinkles (all moisturisers can say this because moisturised skin looks less wrinkled than non-moisturised skin). Creams claiming to work like botox (never gonna happen). Ingredients that claim to fill in deep lines. Makeup thats lasts 24 hours. Its mind boggling isn’t it! In truth skin care can do amazing things for us. It can help us look better, it can help us fight wrinkles, it can protect us from the sun, etc… what it can’t do is often times what the companies promise us. I like more products than i dislike. But what i dislike is the marketing spin that makes us BELIEVE that we need this product. There is a product for everything and yet we still have lines, we still have acne. Lets say that a company comes out with a new product (and they already have 5 other products similar). If the new product is better than the previous 5, shouldn’t they be taken off the market because now we have a better one? I think far too many women (and men) believe what they see without questioning further. If tests were performed, great. Show the tests. Show WHO PAID FOR THEM. Because if the company paid for them that isn’t really the same as independent testing. We want double blind studies where …
